Might be easier to flip the hard brake line on diff so short end and splitter on drivers side than stuff around with hard line on car.
As discussed I dont think drums will be that bad for you in that thing. You can always look at the r31 rear disk conversion. They dont sit ae far in as those bluey ones. So have they started making these for men yet?

Talk to your mx5 bf about a bw78 from a skyline. Strong lsd diff. But get a non lsd and get a locker for it. Spool it.
