Ok results in. It's tuned pretty good all-round. Off-Idle is great, overrun is great, idle and cold start is better than factory.
It pulled to at least 7500rpm on the dyno..so it's balanced ok. The torque curve is good old Yavuz was impressed by that. He was concerned by how quickly it heated up, and thinks that this is just because the engine is still too tight and not run-in enough yet. I may need to fit a bigger radiator later. As a result of this, he didn't feel it worthwhile to try too much boost, so we went with wastegate default of 7.5psi. Managed 128kW@RW so that's not too bad. Good fuel pressure. No problems there. So the Walbro 255L is keeping up. As an aside...It can empty my full fuel tank in 7 minutes. I used it to empty the tank the other day. But the turbo is too big. I'm looking for an uncracked .64 exhaust housing now. The car is very drivable. Not much boost below 4500, which we all thought would probably happen. So there we have it. I didn't bother getting a printout, as I didn't think I'd have much trouble convincing you all of the results. Also managed to spring a high rev oil leak near the oil filter. I'll have to look at that next. But it goes pretty mean. It kinda drives like an L series with big webers. Although at about 5000rpm..there's a good turbo feeling. I'll have to aim for 200kW next time. I'll have some high lift cams in it by then. It was good enough for Yavuz to ask me if I was thinking of selling it. Another Datto convert maybe?...Just not with my car. Cheers.

Now thats what impresses me. Not big power figures, but easy starting, good smooth power delivery right from idle, everything working as it should, & good strong power as well, even at a paltry level of boost. Thats about 170hp at the wheels, & along with a reasonably flat torque curve, thats enough to scare the crap outa me in something as small & light as a 1200.
200Kw is about 267hp, & this would be at the wheels if all goes well. Now you're really trying to frighten me. I'll be quite happy if my little A series makes 80hp at the wheels. Well done

hi chris, good to hear the saga continues. your wallet must be very sore!
do you ever get a bout of the project blues? i get it with my cars all the time! your motor combo has the potential to be nuts but you seem to have to keep forking out for new things, autronic, ign stuff and tuning. does this piss you off? coz my heart sinks for you every time there is another setback. ever wish you had a stock CA with just a mild turbo or something? silly question really keep slogging it out mate!!!

Hi. I was watching the DatNats DVD the other night and watched the LAGWAGON get sideways onto the main straight at Wakefield Park. Made me grin.
Project blues..sure, that's part of the reason why it's taking so long. I'm happy now that it's drivable like any other car. All the things I've had to buy unexpectedly are all good for down the track. Current plans involve: - Turbo exhaust housing switch to the 0.64 one. - Radiator and intercooler upgrade. - New intercooler piping and modify the radiator support panel. - Watts linkage using the diff hat from a Ford Falcon for the rear axle, to replace the panhard bar. - LSD centre reco and install into my current diff, which is a little bit noisey. - "Welded in" Flares for the front guards (Got to find someone who is good at that) So, even after the lots of experience I've had with this transplant, there's always things needing tweaking to make it better. As for having a stocker CA..nah. Having 128kW is 75% more power than my old stock CA18det had. And at half the boost level. I've been told that this power for this boost level is good, especially as I know the engine can handle 20psi. Gotta get some miles on it first, get it run in, so all the above mods can be realised. I can save up for the above in the meantime. Cheers, Chris

Great work on the beast. With the smaller turbo it should bloody hammer. 200rwkw should be very achievable on 18psi.
The "Mini Me" ute managed to get over 180rwkw on 12psi using the lower rated GCG GT28 (320hp) on an SR20DET so the same spec should be adequate for the CA. I had the same turbo on my old CA and it produced some impressive results, spooling only a little later than the T25 but came onto boost much harder. Good luck with the rest of the mods. Once it is run in you can play with the turbo and see what impressive figures you get! Can't wait to hear the results!

A big pic of your emblem could've been a full shot but we'll take what we can get.
So yours is running close to stock hp? Then your turbo isn't the right one I take it?
