I'm guessing your going to have to play around with the brake lines too, it a matter of the four bolts being removed so u can turn backing plates, only hard bit will be brake lines and re bleeding if you have to undo hard lines! Hope this helps

the brakes need bleeding as is so thats not a problem and moving the brake lines again i can deal with that!

I took the wheel off today to have a look, where do i access the bolts from? Or how do i get into the drum to access the bolts?

I've never taken apart a drum brake before and have no idea where to start?

Leave the handbrake off and drum should slide off, when you take drum off there a hole or two in the axel that will let u get a socket onto the nut, u will have to turn axel to get to all 4 bolts.

It sort of looks like the backing plates are on the wrong sides.

Now, maybe im just looking at something wrong, but it seems like if you rotate the backing plates 180° the lever will end up pointing down/forward and the cables will want to run under the center section.

Ang Is right at a closer look again the backing plates are on wrong sides as u can see in my pics the return springs are on top of the cable and in your pics they are below, plus they are either 1or2 bolt out so 90* or 180* out! Good luck think you'll be able to get it now! :)
