ok, so i had some time today to have a look at the rear brakes to fix the handbrake situation, i took off both drum covers only to find the rear left to be missing bits and pieces (see pics)! rear right seems to be fine

again as im fairly new to the drum brake scene i know there is obviously things missing from the rear left could anyone tell me what it exactly is?

Your missing a brake shoe for a start. What kind of diff h150 or bw68?

It's missing the anti-rattle spring and two of the three shoe springs. For a parts break-down see Rear Brake Part Numbers.

Plus it needs to be cleaned and a tiny bit of grease applied to the wear points. Any repair manual will explain further.

unfamilia - think it is actually a h150 had a thread on here previously trying to figure that out and that was the general consensus


ddgonzal - thanks mate ill have a read and a go and cleaning them up

does anyone know where i can get the parts required? im located in sydney

im about to upgrade my whole h150 to a bw68 rear end. if you have a ute, should be a h145 or h165.... they h150 only came in 120why'o'ys

yeah i know i think the previous owner did a bit of chop and changing the tail shaft had 120y written on it and after some discussion on here thought it could be a h150....heres the thread

If you have a ute, it should be an H165 -- they look just like the H150 but are a bit larger.

I finally bought a 1971 ute parts catalog and confirmed they had H165 from the go.
