Well everyone,
I left Sydney at a bit before 8pm on Firday night. On the first night, I made it as far as Kew (NSW) on the mid east cost of AUS.
Early next morning myself and a couple of friends took off for the big 2nd leg of the journey to North Brisbane up in Queensland. The temperatures soared into the 40s man it was hot. Good thing my mates car (The tow car) has good aircon. I picked up the new 1200 at about 3pm Saturday. I met up with Mark (Mely) as he needed some of parts that I brought up with me from Sydney. I drove the car around the block and promptly put it on the car trailer, handed over the payment, and back to the 'Surfers Paradise' I went for the night.
Me and my mate shared driving, and we made it back to Sydney at 10pm on Sunday night. About an hour ago. I'm back at home safe and sound with my new datto.
It's awesome, it's probably the most gutless car I've ever driven, but I've driven it for less than 2 minutes (2 occasions) and I can't stop smiling.
It was hard driving on the way back because of Sunday night traffic from up the coast, and it had started raining as I made it past Newcastle.
Total trip was about 2000km (25hrs driving time) round trip.
Of course I will say it's totally worth it. There some small remaining damage from a passenger-side front ender some time in the past. I'll get a good panel beater to strip and fix that guard. I'll also need to get the front bumper cleaned and rechromed as it was scraped on what appears to be a brick wall at some point. The car came with every receipt spent on it, and also includes the Datsun Service Schedule vouchers etc.
I also got the first Queensland Road Registration for it from back in Jan 1971.
I'm tired, but very happy. I'll sleep nice dreams tonight.
I left my digital camera in my friends car. I'll post pics through the week.
Chris
