ok guys.. calder drag day is coming.. and im tempted to do a 'pre-engine rebuild quatermile pass' for comparison..

been looking on ebay for some sizeable tyres to fit under the rear of my ute..

im running 195/50/15 tyres on it atm which i know is probably nearly as wide as i can go as it is.. but i dont really wanna fry my good tyres too much so im looking for a pair to slap on for racing fun..

and if im gonna have a spare pair they might aswell be as big as i can get..

so to those who have tried whats the biggest i can get under there without sacraficing paint from my guards?

i know wheel offset is a factor so whats the ideal wheel or offset to use to fit the widest tyres?

thanks in advance

just go get some coomodore 195/65 or 70 r15's and have some fun... the 65 should clear your tubs and the taller profile will benefit your top speed... but kill your lower end a bit. greater rotational area.

If you're only getting them for drags, get a higher profile, like 60's or 65's.

A) because they'll be cheaper, and
B) because they'll give you more traction when you let the air pressure down

Yeah I ran 205/50/15's on my previous datto ute. They were on TRX rims and went very close to rubbing on the springs.
You wouldn't get any wider without either using wheel spacers or going to the trouble of re-locating your spring perches. Unless of course Lag's old diff is a little shorter than a standard H165?
