Quote: what are the risks or problems if I dont get the flywheel reground. I don't think it will slip, but there is a real risk that it will chatter (shudder when moving forward from a stop).

Point taken DD..
Should I take the A12 or the A14 flywheel to the machinist? (as I plan to get it lightened anyway)
I'm thinking of taking the A12 as it may well be a bit lighter to start with.
My only worry is if it as strong as the A14 flywheel. Able to handle to same levels of torque.

use the A12 flywheel: even in your pics ther looks to be a HUGE difference in weight!... from what I understand - putting an A12 flywheel on a A13 A14 or A15 is "a time honoured tradition"

I tend to agree.
I'll take down both I think and let the engine builder decide.
I've been told to take my pressure plate down too, so they can be balanced together.

Looks good Tyrie
He concertrated on getting rid of weight around the edges of the flywheel where it makes the most difference.
What's the other side of the flywheel look like (the side with the clutch is on)?

I have had issues with fitting an A12 flywheel onto an A15 and found that the thrust bearing didn't reach. It turns out there is 2 different length bearing bosses. You can see the one I had modified to suit 7mm longer, as I couldn't find an original long one
