what kind of power figures could you expect out of a a14 turbo? or would i be better off saving for the CA conversion

naturaly you will get more performance from the conversion. however if you ipgrade the internals of the a-14(rods, pistons?, cam. then the turbo will have great succes. still not as much as the conversion still. but it will RUN

that sounds alright, i just wanna check out what's going to be the most fun for the dollars, it could end up being a better option to just save my ass off for the CA and then it'll be a rocket...i'll see i suppose

An A series with a proper turbo will go fast and still handle.
If all you care is 1/4 miles in a straight line or just really like to feel the G"s then get a CA or an SR. A series engines get a bad reputation for being slugs because nobody ever gives them a good work over.

I believe guys are getting about 200HP from turboed A series.

Yep, but a moded 200HP CA is hardly pushing the limit. . .

good point, it would be interesting to see which would be cheaper, i was reading the thread "stupid noob and his CA project" and mate it sounds pretty $$$ for the CA project, i'm saving at the moment but does anyone have any suggestions for something a little more interesting? i wouldn't mind a rotor in there

Quote: good point, it would be interesting to see which would be cheaper The turboed A series would be cheaper, however I would recommend going down the tried and true path of working an A series, twin carbs, etc, and you will end up with something that goes fast is reliable and you dont need to jump through too many engineering hoops to get it registered.

yeh maybe i should steer clear of that, see the thing is, there are many conversions i'd love to do to my ute...start with a a14 turbo, then a ca, then a fj and then take it off the road and make a full on race car....sounds good eh but the bank will only allow for one and i need a car to drive aswell ... if anyones got a good suggestion for something to aim for that'd be pretty helpfull
