I did a quick search with no success.

Anyone know if stock bore flat tops exist?

Or what other ways to people use to raise the compression?

Cheers,

Richard

No luck there, with a12 pistons...

SWR sells a10 which i believe are the same bore. Anyone know about pin height?

I really need a place with good specs on the a12. Like cc of head. Amount of dish from stock pistons.

I also believe the stock a12 (1200/120y version) is 8.5:1 compression. I got no idea on engine specs tho!

I don't know if you can still get them anywhere, but replacement pistons for the Datsun 1000 [A10] are flat top & the Repco ones at least, were made from their A12 piston blank, which has a different skirt than the original A10 piston.
These then, are A12 flat tops, & I used them in my wifes car with good results some years back.

Good luck

Thanks mate!

I have access to trade at repco. So I'll try and find out.

I'm assuming compression would rise by about 1?

Anyone got cc's of the a series heads?

Flat top pistons for 10:1 compression ratio
That's in the A12 GX engine article. It doesn't help to know that Nissan had factory flat top pistons?

The combustion chamber size is listed in the Cylinder Heads article: A-Type Cylinder Heads. Note that there are several different cylinder heads for the A12.

Their were two GX engines: high-gas and low-gas. At least one of them uses a 29cc combustion chamber. More regular 1971-1973 A12 engines had a 27cc combustion chamber if I correctly recall Dodgeman's comments about it.

If you are going to buy custom pistons it might be worth it to pull your head and measure the chambers, who knows which head you have.

Yep I will do, I gotta take the head off to replace the valve stem seals.

I'm guessing its probably the rings which are the culperate. Which is what started this whole ball rolling.

Now i'm looking at valve springs and a cam :|

Thanks for the help guys

20 years ago I put j13 flat top pistons in my 1200. It ran 10.5 to 1 compression.
I still have the engine in my back yard. with a gx cam in it. you do have to have the
cylinders bored just a little and watch your cam timing as the valves can hit the pistons
good luck
