Hello everyone,

I have 9k to spend on a new car. My favourite would be a late 1970's 1200 ute. Can anyone give me any information as to why I should or shouldnt buy one.

I was thinking of either spending up to 6k on one and pay out my creditcard with the rest of the cash, or just spend all the money on the ute

Ideally i dont think i require twin turbo, so as to save money on insurance and what not. A rotary would be fun, but too expensive. CA18 would be perfect but not sure how much it wouldcost. Appearance is important to me. So can any of you guys out there give me an idea of what i could get for the cash i have? As you can tell i have no idea. please help

Please post any links to what is in my price range, any help would be appreciated :)

Pay your creditcard bills first man.... the Datsun can wait...

The Rotary / Ca conversions you have listed are not cheap at all even if your doing most of the work yourself, let alone let someone els do it.

Welcome.

You should be able to get yourself quite a nice car for that amount. Try looking through these places to start with:

ozdat 'for sale' page

datnet 'for sale' page

and here,

this site's 'for sale' section

Good luck!

Buy one that has already been built. Building a car from stock cost an absolute fortune, let me tell you! As my old man said to me "Buy the most expensive house and the cheapest car." Okay a car that someone else has bilt is not your own, but it will save you a lot in the long run. U can buy an already converted CA18DET ute for about 9k if you look around, saves paying around 10k just for the conversion work.

All the best,
Cheers,
Stu

Yeah i want one with all the hard work done already, prefer CA18 but hey im not fussy. I know any rotar conversion is too far out of reach and i have very little knowledge of them anyways.

Thanks for the replys.. I have been looking at those website that were posted there the last few days. Not much is there at the moment.

Yes i should pay of that f*&#ing credit card i know. But i so need a good reliable sexy car aswel. Ive been carless for nearly 18months and i sware public transport is more expensive than owning a car.

Please send any pics or anything to my email

How about some girl advice from a girl already owning a 1200 ute???
Hi im Mandy,
Ive just recently bought a 1200 ute with a worked a12 engine. My plan originally was to do paint n interior than a sr20 conversion but now im starting to think sr20 will come first. I bought my ute for $6,500 so i have money left to spent on modifying it.

It really comes down to you if you want the ute to be your "personal" product.

And also buying one already built can be costly if it wasnt done right so if you can do tests on the engine before you buy it or have someone do some for you. Stuff like check compression and spark plugs. Have a look at the oil sometimes you can tell whether the person cares about their car by whether its got fresh oil or not. Make sure everything is engineered if need be for your state.

Well good luck its good to see another girl driving a 1200 ute!!!! you wont regret it
