Am I right that the driver side (Right side) of the diff is a tiny bit shorted than the passenger (left) side, so there is more chance of the wheel rubbing on the right side? I swear it is true...

i dont think so cause i checked once and it doesnt matter what axle you put in either side because they are both the same length, so i think you are wrong
ive found my tyres touch a lot cause ive only got one shocker in the back at the moment, so the diff moves from side to side easily, makes me wonder with the sedans and their upright shocks what stops sideways movement of the diff?

Hmmm yes, shock absorbers... Might get some that aren't twanged up.... Can you still buy rear coupe ones? I remember someone telling me that you couldn't anymroe or something?

i went through this just last week with my mechanic, we rang around asking for shocks for begginer rally car, basically:
pedders half decent ones, though would cook if driven toooo hard (experienced rally driver) $140 for two
koni, beuatiful adjustable whatever whatever, i think $240 EACH
some other mob not as good as pedder $160 for two
basically i think they take a shock which has the same length and travel requirements as a 1200 coupe and then change the rubber in the bottom to make suit 1200 pin size, this was going to cost an extra $12 for koni's but im not sure with others, anyway they had some that would fit, i could get you the code of the pedders if you like, it would probably be good for you, they are pretty stiff giving good performance but it will be a rougher ride on the road, youd never cook them on the road!

Yeah if you could get me the code that would be sweet. I think I remember somethign being said about kingswood or something shocks being used, but the guys really didn't know what they were talking about so I left em.... And tought em a lesson by never getting the rear shocks fixed!

The shocks have enough rubber bushing so they won't do it (coupe or sedan). The leaf spring bushings aren't supposed to move side to side much, but a little up/down and forward/back.

Note: "Dunny" is a nickname for a toilet, normally an outdoor one, in a little metal shed...
