Ok, solenoid goes to the air cleaner, no worries there.
Anyone confirm anything else?

that hole needs to be blocked up if your not planning on running vaccum from there to a booster

and id like to know what happens if you get rid of the "solenoid"
also is there any one the can tell me what i can block off in regard to the emmision stuff?

Im leaving the solenoid, apparently people have problems with them running on. See the balance tube (black plastic tube with zip ties) you make blanking plates for that, little plates with 3 holes. Then the other part of it is to remove the tamper collar on the jet adjuster but mine are already adjustable!

Im going to see if i can get them running nicely with all the emissions crap, only because i want to put it through regency to have it all legal and i dont think they will want to see blanking plates here there and everywhere. Afterwards its getting webers so i cant be arsed blanking stuff off.
Anyone know the sort of performance / tunebility gains by removing emissions on these SU type carbs?

& am i correct solenoid goes to + on coil?

Sorry, missed your reply earlier. Yeah, your carbs look a bit different in that we dont get that round diaphragm thing near the front of the intake. Difficult to see from that angle but is the thing it's connected to an EGR valve onto the intake? I think the Japanese carbs muct have the tamper proof jets too as people in the States seem to have that type quit often. All of their stuff will have come from Japan. It's cool that yours are already adjustrable. I see no reason why you cant get these running okay as is. I'd ditch that diaphragm thing along with the pipes and valve but leave the rest..it should have any adverse affects on performance. I've run SU's many times with the balance tube etc all intact.

Yeah its all got something to do with the gearbox hitting top gear and does something to lean it out, something like that anyway.
So if i just remove all that crap, leave the solenoid and balance tube, just play around with the mix when they are running.

What would you set timing to with these babies? I was just gonna run around 10

If I remember rightly the stock timing is 10 degrees so with 98 you might even manage a bit more. The fuel cut solenoid can be hooked up to any ignition live source so the coild would be ideal.
