I have just noticed that I have a terminal on my distributor with no wire on it. The terminal is behind the vacuum advance diaphram, anybody have any ideas on what it is used for?

normally a ground wire hooks to that.it's not 100% but you should hook a ground wire to it.

Hi there, that terminal is for a ground, it should be grounded, but not detrimental if not.
