i was wondering what style of brake rotors people are running and why ?? along the lines of slotted, cross drilled or solid ?? on the front and the back if you've got them

4 wheel drum at the moment but upgrading to SLOTTED silvia front rotors on 120y struts soon. I think cross drilled is overkill (mostly on price) on a road car especially a LILL OLL DATTO. The slotts DE-GLAZE the pads and also help prevet the GASSING effect. I will leave the drum on the rear for now but I would just upgrade to solid rotors if I was keen.

hey bundy whats involved in fitting the silvia calipers to 120y struts? i hear kev rowley is the man with the plan but im down in melbourne so makes things a little bit more difficult. can you buy a kit to d.i.y?

You said it zzzfan. Kev Rowley. He sells the adaptors. And if you want he can sell you the complete brake package (minus 120y struts). The adaptor plates are cheap and the brake package aint that pricey either

oo very nice any idea around what price i would be looking at for the complete package? guess ill try to find a contact number for him aswell..

good idea - find the number ... cos what you want to know has not alot to do with this thread unless you want to actually add what brake rotors you are currently using

hey adrian, i found some twin piston calipers for you, bolt straight onto the stanza strut
just need to use 200b disc and maybe the hub

and to keep on topic, ill let you know what brakes i use once i start driving my car

I have used the good old sumitomo twin spotters on a few of my 1600's but they haven't been that impressive because the rest of the system has been lacking. i've just bought 253mm slotted standard 240k rotors (perfect for the 1200) but the trick is use good pads and make sure your suspension is up to sctartch and they'll work a treat. i know guys who race with bendix ultimate pads, i've gone for some ferodo 2000 series which are apparently a smidgeon better.

so small solid rotors are good is the moral of the story... turbovan (white 1600 sr20t) came really highly placed at datnats using unslotted 253mm solid disks and his car handled and braked (broke?) a treat. did have coilovers and braided lines etc. tho but "only" 180rwkw (similar to me at the time yet i was much slower!!!!)
