I put Hella inserts in my 85 ute way back when I was a young stud .
I used 90/130 watt inserts and I also had a set of lucas "mean mother" spotlights and when I did my first intestate trip they turned night into day and the old prick in the 240 who would not dip his lights is probably still seeing stars and that was twenty years ago.
I definately recommend going H4 and the correct bulb to keep it all legal are 55/60 watt .
cheers Ade

Is there a tech section on the Hyandai lights as when I will be back on the road I will need some good lighting, could be a fair bit of night commuting.
any info would be greatly appreciated

Hella inserts with relays & a carefully adjusted regulator [where applicable]

Run the relays as all of the current for stock lights passes through the switch [at least on pre '74's it does] & uprated bulbs will make this pretty hot pretty quick.
I ran the standard 55/60's in my '73 model 1200 ute & they were great.

I agree, relays make a huge difference. I measured mine at a measley 9.5volts before the relay. Now they get a min of 12v from the battery and 14.2 when the alternator is cranking. Soooo much better.

Also my 71 stocka actually has decent lights where as my 73 really needed the relay. Probably because the wiring was molested by the previous owner.
