Does the suspension setup stay the same if an engine swap is on the cards? I'm fixing up my ute at the moment and don't want to overhaul the suspension if it changes when i drop a new engine (CA or SR turbo) & driveline in.

Also, is it possible to run H&D ajustable coilovers on the front? If so what make are people using? And what was the damage?

Beautiful tidbit there mat. Appreciated. I'm mostly concerned with Adj. Coilovers & bushes for now. Atleast I know to holdoff on the swaybar for the meanwhile.

How about a setup like this?
coilover kit installed

This is the kit available from Ground Controll in California. Cost was $199.00 including the springs.

The struts are from a 1980 210 (US) 310(OZ). The struts have been cut down 2.125" so that standard Z car strut inserts will fit.

The springs are 250#/inch and the inserts are KYB GR2. The GR2 is not what I would normally recomend for performance use as they are quite softly valved for the intended applications. Putting an insert for the Z car in a 1200 makes for a pretty firm setup though.

First impression after the maiden voyage is good. Firm but not harsh, much less body roll and more positive turn in. Cant wait till the next autocross to see if my times improve...

I tried to link to the photo in the tech section directly but could not get it to work...

Point of order
The local name for the car in the USA is the 'Datsun 210' but it is identified by the factory as the B310 worldwide, regardless of the local name, which in Australia, is the 'Sunny' & in some other markets it is still called the '120Y'

well there kind of is .... take your pick datrats
most of your setup should be determined by what motor you drop in and what you want the car to do. good luck

there are "off the shelf" coil over conversion parts for most strut tubes, they don't tend to tell you that. find a catalog where you can look at the sizes available. find the diameter of your strut tube and diameter and length of spring and rate.

it's really not that hard.

if you're going to do that you may want bigger brakes too, but it's still the same system to make a coilover.
