Hi fellas.

Got more done on my Datto this weekend.

I fabricated up some aluminium plate and mounted a new adjustable fuel regulator.

The old man made up a fuel rail adapter.

Also managed to change the stud PCD on an Ebay Turbo dump pipe to suit a 3inch flange, that has a 3.25 inch PCD, instead of the 3inch PCD of the standard Nissan dump pipe. So remember if you buy a dump pipe from ebay, it may say 3inch, but it can only fit a 2.75inch pipe flange.

I also pulled my brake lines apart again. I'm throwing away the splitter valve, and instead using a straight splitter on the front line and a wilwood line pressure adjuster valve on the rear. Got a new brake master cyilnder to replace the potentially faulty one (even after re-kitting it).

I modified and polished up the turbo too.

Also trial fitted the Maddat Steering Box support bracket. I found it doesn't clear a body bracket for holding the original brake lines. So if you plan on buying one, and have a ca18, and haven't removed all of the brackets in the engine bay, then this could be an issue for you, like it is for me. I need to grind/chisel the bracket off to fit the Maddat steering kit. Might have to take the engine out.

So there, things are moving along. I'm taking four days off over next weekend to get enen more done. I really want it finished soon. Considering I've hardly driven it for the 16 months I've had it registered.

Hey Chris,

The car is looking good. I look forward to seeing some big numbers in the near future!

When and why did you decide to ditch your home made exhaust manifold and go with the fancy one?

The manifold I made meant that the turbo was further forwards. This made it a nightmare to fit a filter and get cool air to it. The car's performance dropped after 5 minutes driving in summer.

For $180..it was almost cheaper than building another myself.

Damn exhaust places charge too much for bends and flanges these days.

I was charged $50 for one 90 degree stainless mandrel bend by Liverpool exhaust. Damn robbery.

yeah bends and flanges are expensive sometimes they come up cheap on ebay, i just bought a whole heap of silicon hose sections pretty cheaply.
liverpool exhaust may be expensive but they do good work ive had my exhaust manifold and 2.5 inch wastegate shaped dumpipe made there, hopefully one day il get it back there for full 2.5 inch exhaust.....

That's definitely the plan. I hope to get it running properly on the road over the next month. Taking a week off work on 18July to work on it some more.

Hey Guys, Another update.

I managed the following in the break.

1. remake front and rear brake lines
2. reinforce/paint radiator support panel for maximum airflow
3. Make up alloy intercooler piping
4. Make front pipe from dump pipe to intercooler.
5. Install new brake master cylinder
6. Install rear brake line bias valve
7. rewire parts of the engine bay
8. design, order, and fit a 23mm front swaybar
9. remake lower radiator crossover pipe
10. Move Horn
11. make/fit intercooler brackets
12. set fuel pressure on new external sard fuel pressure reg.
13. Start up engine to make sure it works after fitting new cams, valve springs, retainers etc a month ago. Started first go.

So it was a productive week. This weekend I plan to fit a ssqv blow off valve, bleed the brakes, fill it up with coolant, set the brake bias on a gravel road and then go for a drive. I'll need to get it to a tuner to dial in and make the most of the new 270 degree cams.

So there you go.
