Heres my dilemma. I have been wanting more out of my a15. so idecided to get a set of twin 45mm webers. I decided to browse through several posts about putting webers on to a series engines, and noticed there is alot of bad comments about them. ppl saying there a waste of time, waste of fuel etc. Not so great on engines and always need adjusting and tuning. I am getting mine done at a shop and they are also dyno tuning them etc. My thing is now, am i going 2 regret spending all this money and is it going 2 be a waste of time Should i still go for it or drop the idea???

so long as you have a good set of headers, and a reasonable cam, and the tuners know what they're doing. You should get good results. Due to the big accelerator pumps, you can expect a jump in fuel consumption.

$$ per extra kw ratio is pretty high. I have had experience with twin webbers on a race A12 and lotus twin cam (road car) and in both cases they were tempremental and the lotus got absolutley shocking fuel economy, despite being driven by a little old lady (my mum). If you spend the time and have the knowledge to set them up right (I didnt at the time) they will probably be rewarding but trhere are probably cheaper ways of getting more grunt out of your A-15

I can't recommend webers enough! Although 45's are probably too big, I had 40's.
I got mine second hand bolted them up and without even tuning they were a huge improvement. They even had odd-sized jets in them. Fuel economy was a little worse but still good, and they never missed a beat while I had them
They're now in B120dat's ute and I haven't heard any complaints from him about them.
The only downside is they are expensive new and hard to find second-hand. I don't think they would be worth the price brand-new

Ohhh yeah - go the webbers Urban myths spread by such opening lines as .... " my mate's ....." ARE THE PROBLEM. Find carbs in excellent condition or new and get someone who knows what they are doing to set them up. Once set, they are fine - they have been used on all manner of production sports cars in the past and have been fine. The one thing I would avoid are overhead likage systems - they are the weak link that move out of adjustment and cause dramas. My twins use a centre pull direct from the shaft and never cause ANY issue once balanced if they are not touched. We 'old skool' blokes just loooove the sound of twin webbers at full noise
Cheers

Spot on Rfast. The linkages are most important as is the correct jet size & choke size depending on application
I still miss the sound of my old A14 at 8000+ its been like 7 years but still remeber the wonderfull sound. Plus have some good old videos doing hillclimbs ect.brings back good memories. now its all whoose bang and pop LOL Power is like a drug though

i have bought kegs set he had up 4 sale, so i take his word that they will be good, just hope it all goes smooth, and i dont run in 2 any hassles. i have heard very mixed opinions that there a waste of time, but figured they where a cheaper option than turboing or upgrading engines. also get a bit more street crediability. i am concerned about the fuel cost as an appretice but i suppose its not a daily driver.

another thing is u only want 3psi fuel pressure, and like Rfast and Andrew said, linkages are most important, make sure you replace your soft mounts when needed
