Nitrous Oxide.....safe for A series?

Hi Gang I am ready to begin my build up on my A15, but I have come accross this

I have a high compression head (about 11.5:1) with big port job, competition valve springs, twin mikuni sidedraughts, bluebird series 2 distributor, datrats extractors and 2 1/2" exhaust, 54/86 camshaft, flat top pistons, king bearings and a balanced bottom end.
what would my chances be of plumbing in the above kit to my redline intake manifold and tuning an extra 50 horsepower out at the wheels?
I will be running an auto gearbox with a 3000rpm stall converter and a H165 differential

Why not? It's safe for humans in small doses haha.

But 50hp at the wheels? Come on, this is only a 1500cc engine. That's 75 HP at the flywheel -- on top of what your modded A15 already puts out -- you'll be stressing the engine won't you?

that's always the problem, engines usually don't last nearly as long like that. You have a heap of spare engines?

Are your flat top pistons forged?
I think your CR is a wee bit on the high side for Nitrous.
The pistons are the first thing to go on an a series, even more so for a nitrous motor. Providing you get the mixture right, and don't squeeze it too often, you might be okay. I'd strongly reccomend forgies,

Oh yeah, definately get your block O-ringed.

I was planning on using a standard head gasket, why was that?

No problem running nitrous on that motor.

The question is how much?

To work that out you must determine the weakest HP link in your engine.

What power can your rods,pistons, bearings etc. handle. This is then your limit of total power based on the weakest link.

Work out how much power you make without nitrous subtract that from the limit and you have the answer to what the maximum size jets you can run are.

Eg: If your motor is built to handle 200hp and it makes upto 150 (flywheel) as it is then you have upto 50 hp to play with.

You must also remember that your fuel system needs to deliver the total amount of fuel required for the end power goal. This means either a single large pump or a dedicated one for the nitrous kit.

The compression is fine on your motor. Run a heat range colder plug than you would normally and reduce the gap to around 0.8mm.Take a few degrees of timing out and shift 500-800rpm earlier than usual.
