Hey guys

I'm thinking about starting an engine coversion on my ute. I am wondering what engine to use though. What would be the easiest to engineer? N/A SR or CA or Turbo SR or CA. I could go (dare i say it) Toyota 4AGE 20 Valve or a 4AGZE. What do you guys think. NSW Engineering is a major point, cost is next.

Cost says L - series or Z18 Depends what you want to achieve ....... race the other young bucks in town - CA or SR turbo - most bang for $$$$ OR L series for 'old skool' with webers (mmmmmm) or Z18T. Although not as powerful as the new kids on the block, still has some cred while having that 80's motorsport heritage. Personally I say no to Toyota ... but I am a bit of a brand loyalist
Cheers

i like the 4age as what other nissan motor will spin to 8and a bit thousand rpm and sound so nice while giveing good power... plus the sound of quad throttle boddies opening at full song....

i just keep dreaming of honda f20c....... 9000rpm datto would be the ultimate. for me anyway.

$$$ are the factor but ca are cheaper now as so many people are doing them, can even pick up half done unfinished projects cheap with crossmembers and everything done already.

I would go the CA because of its size, weight, look and its ease to pass engineering. There are plenty of kits out there to fit the donk into just about any car at reasonable prices, With forged pistons and good rods it will be an exrteamly reliable motor and they also have a very easily tuned factory computer so that can save you a few bucks. This motor basically gave birth to the RB series donks you see in all the R32, 33 ,34 skylines out there so it has a pretty good start to life. One of the down sides it that there is allot more after market gear for the SR20's but thats only one small hurdle to jump over. This is just my opion so you can take it any way but I hope this info helps you.

plus the CA18det, has coil per pot, crank fire igntion, oil squirters, crank girdle all as standard, sequential EFI, i was going to go L series, but cost was too much to match a CA.

Yes, thanks Bundy and Short-Coupe. Exactly what i'm looking for. Aren't the N/A CA easier to engineer than a Turbo? i heard that somewhere.
