I also would like to know the answer to this aswell. To get that much power outter the a14 i guess you would have to rebuild it, possibly balance it, upgrade your gearbox, better carbs possibly different manifolds, maybe a gx head, extractors, bigger and better exhaust system, bore it abit, get a nice comp 10 : 1 or sumtin, better flywheel etc so i guess if you worked the cost of all that out and compared it to upgrading to a ca18de ( which i would have no idea about costs) Theres your answer

Hope this helps a little

Tye

i think you are better off to use a ca that way when u want to go faster and u will the hard parts done and ca18 turbo is pretty easy to get 300+ hp at the wheels. Unless u want to keep it classic with the a series but u will spend at least 2500 on your engine + twin side drafts or injection +flywheel & clutch etc.

thats not a bad price id rather a quick a series worth 2.5k than payin 10 grand for a fast ca18 coz u dont have to go through engineering and that

Go the ca.
A front cut should be around $1000 non turbo.
Cross member $350 from kev
Wiring $450 from kev
Tail shaft? $200
Clutch? $300
Random stuff? $500
Brakes? $350
Sure tank and pumps? 450
Do it your self and save some cash.

So about $4500 would do it what do you think?

there's a good thread here that goes into a bit of detail on the A-series building costs ????

as for costs of the bolt on bits - twin carbs setup and running sweet $1000'ish, exhaust/extractors $5-700'ish, elec dizzy $4-500'ish, fly wheel/clutch $400'ish, elec fuel pump $150-200'ish ...................... so around $4500 on the bottom end and head, $2500 - 3000 for the rest ...... then dyno time to get it running at its best $70p/hr'ish ???

this would get you an A14/15 that would definitley make you smile for a long time ..........

u may spend another 2500 on carbs, clutch, ign, exhaust etc. ca conversions cost about 8000ish but all depepends on what u can do yourself and what bits u can find on the cheap
