I've got a CA18DE one you could have cheaply.....don't know how it differs from the DET one.

I know the DET computer plays very badly with the DE. I had that problem 12 years ago Wouldn't keep running, ran on what seemed like three cylinders..mainly because it wasn't giving the injectors enough open time, because the DET injectors are bigger.

Got a DE computer and it started up first go!

Good to hear DD - I'll send Mr. RC an pm about the DE ECU....phew that's a lot of acronyms.

Be a good chance for Mike to see my operation down here in SE burbs. Introduce to Bruce's old circuit coupe.

I actually expect the DE computer to run rich on the DET engine. Not a good result. It would be better if he could find a DET computer. I sold off all of mine for $100 each.

Still wouldn't be a good starting point, unless 1200rc is thinking of going with an aftermarket chip. Pete Leibig's ECU chips are good for SR20s. Pete's a good fella, but I'm unsure if he's expanded to include CA18 re-chips:

Hmmm - I hadn't thought of that. Assuming the DET and DE run the same sensors...a remap of the EPROM would remove the richness of the DE factory tune....did the CA18 computers run boost control - I don't belive they did....bit spoiled in my BF.

So DE computer and an electronic boost controller could do the job....hmmm

The DET computer (as does the DE) uses the knock sensor to determine if high octane fuel is being used, if it is, it uses the 'high octane' map. Yes, the CA18 ECU has two ignition/fuel maps.

The DET computer also uses a PWM (pulse width modulation) output to a bleed solenoid valve to raise the boost when using high octane fuel. So if yo uare running the standard computer, running good fuel, and having a functional knock sensor will see you more power. Although adding a free flowing 3 inch exhaust will raise the boost 2 or 3psi.

Getting a DET computer is the answer for 1200rc. Using a DE computer on a DET is new ground for me...
