The left does operate but not the right.... gathering thoughts before I operate.

First thing I would do is replace the flasher can, failing that pull of the indicator stalk and clean all the contacts. Also check the bulbs and sockets and if that fails stick your arm out the window. cheers Ade

well it worked at least one time today so I am leaning towards the indicator conections...

Keith, the indicator switck only provides power to a small square box called a relay. The relay is a remotely controlled swich which closes the contacts to switch the power to all the indicaror lights. If all the indicators on one side are crook , it could be the relay, if only one or two indicator lights don't work but one still does then check the bulbs.
