before you go paying to have a diff shortened run a tape measure over a 720 diff at the mounts

althought these are six stud they are much shorter then bluebird diff and as a bonus they are 4.11:1 or lower in the ratio

they have the big axels the same as the blue bird

I just went and measured this for ya, from outside edge of spring mount to outside edge of spring mount is 102cm. From wheel mounting face to wheel mounting face is approx. 145cm (was hard to measure so is only an approximation)

2 wheel drive 720 h190 diff is the same width as bluebird h165

if your only wanting the diff to handle an L20b, y not just use a 1200 ute diff?
only have to cut the spring mounts off the 120y diff and weld them onto the ute diff and it will go straight in

i had my head under a 1980 hiace van today (dont ask why...) and they look VERY close to a 120Y width...

but looks can be deceiving

Tom, PM R-fastmotorsport. He runs a H165 diff with the Series 2 bluebird discs. His race spec L20 hasn't bothered it yet. He does run 13's, but needed a mm or 2 machined off wheels, and a bit of filling on the caliper.

I'll say it again... you could get 3 120Y BW diffs for the same money as 1 ute diff, and they will bolt straight in and handle all the power you'll ever get out of a L20. and if you want to match the track of the front with the 200B struts, the Corolla version of the same BW diff is the perfect width, and it still bolts onto the 120Y leaves.

but if you want to waste money and make it harder for yourself, go right ahead...
