I've got a tricky one. She always says "sure" or "ok" or "if you want to". Somthing positive and supportive, yet short and sufficiently vague as to her true feelings on the matter. Is it a matter of her handing me the rope to hang myself with, or does she really just want me to be happy?

..... ....... ....

Maybe its just me, but.. thus far I have always backed down. If I go to her with a totally unreasonable request.. and she just says "go for it" with no fight, no resistance.. somehow all the joy of the hunt and kill is gone. At that point I dont feel like I am getting away with anything at all. I am deflated and suddenly reason overcomes addiction and I end up passing on the once in a lifetime datsun deal.

It's happened twice now - and I can feel the 3rd time coming on very soon on this sedan I am about to decide to pass on. She said "sure"......... AGAIN.

Something is wrong with me.

No such thing as "The deal of a life time". Don't stress Dude there will ALWAYS be opportunities. Sure yoy will miss some deals but I guarantee there will always be others.

i'm learning that those short answers usually aren't the best sign. Maybe it means that if you discuss with here more then she might be more definite, but that could go either way. I think it means that she feels like you will just decide to buy a car, and she'll deal with it.

when there's "no money" for cars, she probably won't want to hear about any cars no matter how cheap, even a 69 skyline for $1, even if you just say look theres a nice one.

i think women tend to be practical, they think we each already have a car that runs, and you're not jay leno - so that is enough cars ( especially when there's nowhere to park another - that probbly isn't running too well - or will be inoperable soon )

it could mean that she is jealous of the car.

This isn't the first time i've posted one of these if i buy any more ... or such my wife will be pissed, but at least there wasn't anything that happened, i just saw that engine and started daydreaming.

It's probably a good thing to figure out ways to make project cars and marriages work together.

maybe there needs to be a wife diagnostic thread in off topic, something like - every time i talk about cars my wife makes this weird ticking sound... Have you checked her oil? etc...

Sounds like she's got your number. [LOL]

In the end, you must weigh up which is more important, a bottomless pit into which each of us just throws money, or three meals & half a bed, & no matter which choice you make, there will always be the nagging question. Did I make the best choice?
Only you can ever know for sure, but some serious 'quality time' with the 'hug & kisses' can often lead to some pleasant compromises & avoid a situation where she becomes the 'trouble & strife'

Now go give her a hug.

OH MY GOD (AND THE NUMEROUS OTHER GODS TOO)!!!

i thought i would never see the day when the tough, relentless blokes who owned dattos opened up and talked about their handbrakes (lady friend) like this.

The way i see it all is that women are a very powerful force... like a magnetic field. if you happen to fall into it then almost all the freedoms you once had as a single man are stripped because your pinned down by the ever-present restraint the girl has on you...

so far i havent been pulled into orbit. which means im modding as many cars and owning as many motorbikes as a can before its all too late...

anyway, back on the main issue here. i think that buying a Lseries is definately worth it.
just say "i have more than 1 love in my life, and in all respect, cars were here b4 you..." lol. dont actually say that.

my 1200 handles great, the weight isnt really that noticable, just move the battery to the boot to compensate

just explain to her that it is a safety feature for when you overtake, renault uses that to sell the turbo equipt vehicles, so why cant you

but if the battery is in the boot, where do you have to move your mrs to distribute more weight?

i guess you can just not let her drive in it, there fore making it a weight saving measure.

I don't think my wife has even sat in the drivers seat, something about wanting to relearn stick somewhere safe before driving it... I always encourage her to drive it.

Ronald are you insane..............the single life is better?? Awesome cooking , someone to remind me to timer record the 1 2 5 race from Suzuka , buys me the right car book at christmas , if I want to get lucky all I have to say is that's a pretty blouse.....try that at the pub , I've got a room full of model trains and she did the decorating , when we bought a new house she insisted it have a 3 car garage and it's filled with a Coupe , vintage motocross bike , 63 Honda 90 and a KT100 JR Kart......................this is not possible on my salary alone , are you mad man. Oh sure I got sucked into orbit all right..........the orbit of planet good life :)

OK back to the topic.........if you want the L Series you have to cut a deal , layout a plan for the Mrs and stick to it. We do this for most things be they cars or not cars.
