That is very nice..but the 1200 GX-5 Coupe next to it is better
You must have better eyes than me. What can you see that makes it a GX-5?
As far as I can tell, from this angle, the GX with four speed looked exactly the same & was by far the more common version, or was the side stripe for 5 speed models only.
I'd be interested to know if the little ducktail was a genuine factory accessory [they did offer them] or an aftermarket item.
Now to the Ute
The ute was introduced in December of 1967, a few months after the introduction of the other 1968 models & this one uses the 1968 model Ute grille. It looks a lot like the 1967 Datsun 1000 Sedan & Van grille. [Oct 1966 to Sept 1967] but I do not think it is identical as I'm sure it was stamped in steel instead of alloy.
The side blinkers were this shape for 1968 & '69 models, but shorter than the 1600/510 items. For the 1970 model, [from July 1969] they used the same blinker spear as the 1600/510 models but the fittings on the end of the wiring were different, so the lamp itself is the same, but the complete assembly is not interchangeable.
This one has the 1968/'69 model blinker spears, but I would need to get a look at the tail lights to tell if it is actually a 1969/70 body with earlier grille.
Edit. Durrrr, the number on the plate should give me a clue. It was too obvious & I missed seeing it.
As others have writen, the coupe dash can be used, but to do it properly it is necessary to drill out the spot welds & remove both the Ute dash & the donor dash. The Coupe dash should then be welded back in place as it forms a structural part of the cowl area & is very important for this reason.
Naturally, all of the Coupe dash pieces then need to be refitted & everything about these dash's is unique to them, so using the front part of the Coupe's wiring harness is also a good idea.
Again, as others have writen, the bumper, front apron, park lights, bumper brackets & grille are unique to the coupe, but the bonnet & guards are the same as other B10 models.
His wheels,
Engrish version.
