Motorcycle mufflers seem to have worked well for several club4ag.com members:

Its too bad there isn't much room on a 1200 between the leaf spring and gas tank. An oval bike muffler might work.

Think about it, nowadays even a 600cc superbike makes over 100 horsepower at nearly twice the rpm of our Datsuns. A stock superbike muffler would provide plenty of flow and people are tossing them on ebay for $30 to $50.

I run a simple 1 3/4 inch mild steel pipe from an A14\15 manifold to a lukey muffler which shoots it down to the road about 20cm from the muffler, it makes it lowder than you'd think due to the resonance. I also get alot of people thinking my car has a EJ series boxer engine in it

Well, the set-up I have in my Datsun 210 is a 2 inch exhaust from the header back, no catalitic, no resanator, and a Apexi N1 muffler in the back. The muffler is speced for turbo cars and sound pretty good on a NA car. Just don't go over 2 1/2 because then the motor will lose its compresion.

I have a Hi-Tech header, into a 2 1/2 inch pipe all the way to a lukey offset 2 1/2 inch muffler and straight over the diff and out the back, it sounds LOUD, a little TOO LOUD. I am looking into fitting a resonator right now! But it sounds awesome at full throttle at about 5000-68000rpm

I forgot to suggest that you do what it takes to get the exhaust to exit out the rear or side. The amount of sound that reflects up off the ground when you have turn downs is amazing. And it helps minimize the amount of exhaust in the car too.

on "The Iron Maiden" I have about 1.5'-2' of the original exhaust system, then under the passenger seat I have a 9" hotdog (cherrybomb)!

no carpet either!... but I do have floor mats though!

"The Defect" has an open system... but it's not a runner...

not really street legal but when your doing circle work You need to hear the A12 rev
