i just read it too, and it must be the only thread on this website where dodgeman and phunk arent trading nasties!!!
someone send this thread to a museum so in 50 years time there is actual proof that these 2 actually got along.

It goes to show that I give people benifit of doubt and tolerate them for a while.
Also shows that dodgyman had a complex from the start. Question his knowledge and the name calling begins
Is this thread the first signs of your god complex (dodgyman)? [edit]

"Turbo cars have very large exhaust to reduce back pressure AFTER the turbo. After the motor is a different story. 1200RC is right, that back pressure is essential and is the reason tuned length manifolds perform better."

Tuned length headers work due to sound waves which cause pressure...back pressure describes pressure due to fluid flow....2 totally diff things.????

"not from what i have been told, i dont know the theory behind it but for example people always say use a 2inch exhaust on an a-series not bigger, it will perform better as the engine needs some back pressure, i know 2 stroke engines need back pressure but again not sure why"

Again...(I could be wrong) but 2 strokes rely on sound pressure waves to help extract burnt fuel/ keep fresh air in the cylinder. This is not typical "back pressure" Although the Yamaha exup system does seem to rely on adjusting back pressure to increase torque at low RPM.

"Ahhhhhhh what enjoyment I've just got out of reading through this giant topic.

I've just got one thing to say - and this is not to offend anyone just a point that I'd like to make - :

Its very easy to tell which guys on here have spent too much time at uni with their head in a book looking at everything from a scientific, theoretical, complicated technical viewpoint.

Then you have the guys who are QUALIFIED tradesmen with years of "hands on" experience, knowledge and know how, skinned knuckles , chasing intermittent problems under pressure while listening to someone tell them they know a guy who done that in 5 mins whats taking you so long etc etc ##$@ etc................

You could spend an eternity at uni doing degrees in mechanical engineering or whatever but it can NEVER teach you "HANDS ON EXPERIENCE"

So get a spanner in your hands and get a feel for it because sometimes I think you can actually be so smart that you're stupid"

And hands on experience will never allow the opposite to occur!!! You seem to be describing a fresh Uni graduate against an old timer!!! Compare a Uni graduate with 30 years experience with a
"hands on" bloke with 30 years experience.

Do you think that things like EFI were created with guys who have "hands on experience"???
Was Motec and Autronic founded by guys with "hands on experience"????

I'm not havin a go at people "with hands on experience" cause some of the stuff they do is just unbelievable.....but dude...unless you've been to Uni and done Mech Eng.....you don't know what your talkin about.

"looking at everything from a scientific, theoretical, complicated technical viewpoint."

Guess what...everything is scientific, theoretical and complicated!!!!
