I have an A14 in my Datsun and was wondering what all it would take (if possible) to turn my motor into an A15 and what further steps it would take to make my car a fun street car. Not a race car. I also would like to get around 8.5kpl/20mpg (better would be just fine).

I think you'd be far better off buying an A15 rather than spending big $$$ boring the A14 out.

Whell you can always get an A15 Crank and stuff that into the A14 and you wil have an 1500.
If you want to go all the way , you get the A15 Crank, and Bore it out to 1540,
get a nice 291 cam, and a set of 40 DCOE
Sides, good fun for relative cheap,

The only major components needed to convert an A14 into an A15 are the crank, the pistons, & the oil pan. The oil pan has dimples pressed into one side to clear the longer stroke of the crank, otherwise, to all practical intents & purposes, the two engines are dimentionally the same.

In the real world, you would be better off finding a donor engine for the parts, & if you have a whole A15 engine, or even short block, you might as well use it instead of breaking it down for parts.

I'm lookin at spending no more than 2000$ US on the engine. I was thinking i'd just try to keep mine as it has only 81,xxx on it. Being from the US I dont have access to as many parts ebay.com is about it. How much $ would i be looking at for a longblock or an A15 crank, pistons, and oil pan, and where can i get it. Thanks

The big factor is does it need to be smog legal?? Keep in mind from stock A14 to stock A15 is only a 3 HP jump. If you can do the work yourself here is what I'd do:
Get a Weber 32/36 , header and 2 inch exhaust. The buy some good sway bars , shocks , springs , rims and tires. If there is anything left of your 2K maybe then buy some flat top pistons and a mild (GX spec) cam. The weber and the header should bump the power 7-10HP and the suspension parts are what make Datsuns fun.
You can also clean up the head (read file the rough casting marks in the ports) for a little extra.

just ebay! I've bought most of a car off ebay.
^^ good advice.
Many people like the A14 over the A15 and feel it revs a bit higher, and produces a bit more power in the extremes.

You could do nothing to the engine and spend the whole $2000 on suspension.

If you have to stay smog legal, find out what that means in your locality. Otherwise you can end up with a vehicle that is unregisterable regardless of it's emissions output. Like mine LOL

What sort of driving do you want 20 mpg? With a weber 32/36 I was getting 17-25 street mpg and a little better highway. ( now I get 13ish and 30ish - on LPG )

I live in North Carolina you dont have to have smog tests if its older than a '96 so thats not a problem. Dont make fun of me but i dont know what lpg is. If i stick with A14 what all can i do besides header and carb. I can get shocks & struts for about $200. Is it even possible to get strut bars for a 210? Thanks for all the help. I'm new to the Datsuns. My last vehicle was a 400 hp 1971 Ford F100.

without spending serious money the best you can do is get it back to stock

LPG = propane

Strut bars - yes and no, someone on this site is making some, otherwise, make your own.

Header, carb, intake, ignition, cam, oil cooler, electric fan, same as the rest of us...

Since they don't make much of anything for our cars it's a matter of adapting bits.

Hey I am in NC too and have a bit of history with these cars and motors. Where are you located? I'd be happy to help out and give you advice if you are interested.
