1200s have enough problems with under bonnet space. It would be good on a A-series turbo setup though. They work well. Just that you need an A/C sized radiator and water pump. It's a lot more crap than a simple air to air intercooler. Most people use the RS Liberty setup.

I had a mate with a Hillman Hunter fitted with a turboed six cylinder toyota engine, the water to air intercooler was what the engine had in its original donor car and it worked well, my mate claimed it was superior to an air to air intercooler.

A mate of mine custom made a water to air for his sw20 mr2. Goes like a cut cat.
I know a couple of blokes who have the suby ones in 510's. Reportedly you can pull over, stick your finger in the cooler and it'll be stone cold.
A mate and I had a play around test fitting a suby unit into a CA 1200. I don't think it can be done without modifying it. For that hassle, why not build a custom one?

Yeh thanks i was only thinking as air to air needs air speed and how much air flw does it need to work? i know air to water will cool instantly and wen you stand on the throttle it will be super cool riht through the end of the pass...

You have to remember that while the water will cool the air well initially, it is harder to cool down the water after it is warmed. The specific heat of water is significantly higher than air so it holds more heat in just like it absorbs more heat.

Put simply, water to air coolers would be good for street cars that are only used for short bursts but in cars using full throttle for longer periods of time they wouldn't be such a good idea.

Having said that it would be possible to have a water to air cooler that would be effective in all conditions but you would need a very efficient heat exchanger.
