Where are you from?

Sad to hear about the VW.
They are great little performers on a race track. But I think you know that. Why else do you think they call the Mk1 golf a rabbit in England. Have you ever tried catching a running rabbit?

I live in Durbanville, Cape Town - close to Killarney race way.

Golfs are fast but are understeery creatures unless set-up perfectly.
There are some fast Dattos around - most notably a white 1600 SSS that gives the Porsche 911 Carerras a hard time in Classics

Great man.

Another South African.
Talk to a guy on this site named benny.
He currently has a coupe with A14 engine racing.
Can help you with mods and stuff.

Because you are in South Africa, I will reccomend the A14 because parts are everywhere and you can make it square.
Something to do with bore and stroke being the same. This apparently can also help with reliability.
You can then work the GX head a little and use it.
If not, PLEASE let me know as I would like the GX head and SU's on the A12 engine if you are going to sell it.
