Datsun had, that I remember, the Datsun 620 pickup truck/ute, the one w/ 4 headlamps and rear tail lights under the gate, within the bumper, with an L15 or L14 engines,as a 4WD, and those were the best, reliable trucks, many still around, in some countries the name was Datsun 1500 and later Datsun 1600 ute/pick up truck, I lived in South America, so I know there, that was the name, as opposed to 620(US).
PS: A Lexus is not in the same league as the A series engine Datsuns, but with the Infinity brand, which is to Nissan what Lexus is to Toyota, and the Infinity , the top one, has I believe 290 hp, 3 more than the 350Z which has 287 out of a V6.This Infinity looks like a 4 seater 350Z.
The Lexus to A series comparison is like comparing the Infinity to a Toyota 3-Tc 1972 Corolla engine, not fair.

Jaime.

you just cant kill the A series engines! cause old dudes see my car and tell me thier DATSUN story, they all speak highly of the series engine and how hard they are.

my mate threw oil on the floor on a old road in a banged up 1200 ute (A12) and he just could kill the engine!

DASTUNs Built TO TUFFFFFFF.......

Just saw that the "DATSUN" name is still being used! That's what they call the 2002 Frontier/Pickup/Hardbody/Navara in Japan.

Nissan 2002 PDF file. Same thing in Web page format: DavidsDatto site.

thay all piss oil that lets ya know that thay still have some in em lol but there good strong engines i got a 50 year old landy in my shed starts first hit of the button the v8 was first made by buick/chev? and thay did a poor job thay had big over heating problems so thay sold the design to rover in the 60s some time thay inproved them alot super charging/4 bolt mains ect ect ex factory standard 3.5 liter rover v8 has enough tourqe to pull a 2 ton range rover in top gear from about 15 mph

yeah cause they also put the 3.5lt rover into the MGC GT, which went hard but was very troublesome

not realy a great engine to hot up less ya get a later model one ie 4.9 liter in early 3.5,s the factory pistons gave out at big revs but thats easy fixed with some slugs out of somthing else or after market bottem ends seem strong and a good after market timeing chain is a good option... heads/valves have double springs standard inlet manafolds for the stromberg carbs are good for torque and nothing else but there was an su option made more power and used less there fuel injection on early rovers was primitave stuff like all early injected stuff and made them un reliable
