Holy Krepp. Thats the size of my garden hose.

I was thinking about that.

What did you down the tank end? Did you have to get the bigger pickup welded in?

Yeah, but it was NOT easy!
Datsun used solder to put the pickup in. This meant we couldn't use easyflo, and had to solder the pickup in. as well as that, i had to try hold the end of it as close to the bottom of the tank, without touching it. Whilest not burning my fingers with the torch. I'd reccomend paying a shop to do it for you.
This. with the new pump, was the kiss of death to my leanout woes.

Hmmmm. sounds like fun.

A few edits & updates: the internal galleries of the 32/36 are about 6mm. There is a lead/solder plug in the side of the top cover where the fuel inlet outlet is, which seals the end of the main gallery that runs to the needle and seat. when I got my carby, the fuel inlet & outlet were leaky, so I soldered them up, but when I did that the whole shebang got hot enough that this solder plug came loose & I had to add a bit of extra solder to it. As it turns out, a large piece of that plug had melted and formed a ball that was in the main gallery, rolling around and blocking it up pretty badly, so that *may* have been the primary source of my lean out problems. I re-soldered everything an I redrilled the seat to 3mm (as big as it can get & still seal) while I was there so now I know that that is the only major restriction in the system.

Unfortunatley it has been too hot around here for any high speed testing.

If all goes well, the next step will be 8psi and water/ methanol injection to help keep charge temperatures down and to control detonation on transition.

Did some high speed testing yesterday & no more lean-out problems. don't know if it was the ball of solder or the increased seat size that did it, but she's running sweet now. lumbered lazily up to 180kph (approx 5500 rpm) in 5th before I ran out of room. Also not to excited about subjecting a NA design motor to sustained high RPM, high load conditions.

I am getting a couple of crank pulley's made up- a proper one for 5 psi to replace what's on there at the mo, and another that will give me 8-10 psi. (approx 1:1 ratio) I was hoping to find a size that would give 6-7 psi and just get the one pulley made up, but I couldn't find anything in the right diameter.

Will need water/meth injection or decomp before running 8-10 psi.

It's not hard to acertain what size pulley you need. Just take your current ratio as a decimal, divide it by your current boost, then multiply that number by your desired boost. That will give you your desired ratio as a decimal. Divide the needed circumference by pi.

I've tried to calculate my theoretic boost, but I'm well below that. Dunno if my blowers worn, or if those Totota blowers are sh1t.
When I up my boost, I'm going to work off the figures I have, rather than try extrapolate from the suposed displacement of the pump.

No problems knowing the size I need, the problem was finding a 5pk pulley in that size to weld to a crank pulley.

I don't think the toyota blowers are bad as such, its just that the swept volume figure of 1420cc is highly theoretical......Just like the 69 hp that an A12 is supposed to produce.

Just out of interest, did you gain boost when you increased to the 350 holley? That would be the real test to find out how much too small the 32/36 is.

Has taken a while to get these pics together.

I'm fairly happy with the way it has come up. Just need more boost and a better clutch now.

Blower pic 1

next

and another....

The castlemain rod shop reckon that VMX 80 will do for blower oil.

supercharged holden/buick V6

they also reckon they are getting a 25-30% power increase out of 2-3psi...... which kind of implies that the v6 has a volumetric efficiency of about 60% !!!

What diameter is your crank pulley, and how many psi are you running? (I'm too lazy to go back and read it for myself)

dude, I can't remember.. 105-110mm I think for the 5psi setup. the other one I am getting made up is 125mm so 1:1 ratio.

Good help is hard to find- I had 2 pulleys made up and the dude that did them crushed the collar of the crank pulley so that it wouldn't fit back over the end of the crankshaft. I used a bit of force (not a hammer or anything, just pushing) to get them back on and they cracked. All of the cracks matched up with the chuck jaw marks from the lathe, except for the ones in the keyway.

Anyways, the guy who did the job eventually admitted that he was 'partially' responsible and is making up another set for me now...... Hopefully it won't take 5 weeks this time!!
