And this would be one reason why. These are just low cost hypo eutectic cast alloy pistons in a "stock, old smokey A12 bottom end", & if it really is smokey, then those tired old rings did a dazzling job of holding onto that power at 18psi of boost, not once, but at least twice.
The pistons should be preserved for posterity.
I don't doubt that this engine pushed out that record power figure on that dyno, but I do have my suspicions about it being on a "stock, old smokey A12 bottom end"
Sorry for the scepticism, but it's just a bit hard to grasp.
