Just when you thought the car was costly enough ...

Something bad like this happens. I feel your pain.

Sounds like it was a real rocket of a setup.

I'm hoping for your sake, that the spn bearing has not done too much damage to your expensive crank.

i run it in my 12a which regulary sees 9000+rpm and have had no problems

mines a different application i know but is it
possible that its a coincidence that it failed
when u changed oil?

Well, I must admit, that's the longest single sentence post that I can remember.

You do not say which country you are in, but you say that you switched to 'hrp15' oil.

I'm going to guess that this is Penrite HPR15 oil & some details may be found here

From the description of your engine, I suspect that one of these might be a better bet.
Anyway, the Penrite home page is right here.

I ran Penrite oils in my Moto Morini motorcycles [all 3 of them] & they never gave me a reason to doubt them. I used them exclusively & may well do so again in my KB10.

EDIT
The A series bottom end is a very good piece of hardware & as long as there is oil in the pan, even oil of mediocre quality, then these things are near impossible to kill.
What spins rod bearings more than anything else is a LACK of oil, not necessarily in the pan, but a lack of oil at that particular journal. I would be giving the whole thing a very thorough inspection before pointing the finger at the oil as you might just find a blockage in the crank or even the block.

I cannot think that it is the oil's fault.
How old is this engine?
What oil did you use before changing? (I don't know a oil named multi vis)
Only thing that I think that could happen with bad oil is that premature wear will occur.
I went to Penrite's website as indicated by Dodgeman. That oil seems good enough to handle the stress. Is it possible that it did'nt want to mix with your previous batch of oil that was still in the sump after draining?

well the crank is now stuffed on 3 shells and there was no blockages in the crank and the motor was 5000 kms old

we checked the oil pump and it is still like new and pumping just under 80 psi of pressure

so it looks like the only thing left is the oil oh and the oil did not get hot eather

i was running penzoil muilt vis with is a 20w 50 before the oil change and what was fine in it and the other a12s and a14 motors that i have had

my thought is that hpr15 is not worth sh*t

and that crank cost about $5000 and it is only about 6 months old motor and box would have to have cost about $10000

I'd seriously doubt changing to HPR15 could cause it to kill the BE bearings,
oil flow wouldn't be a problem with 15,

unless clearences were tight, when you changed, and didn't fill the filter with oil.

80psi seems exsessive as well,

My thoughts exactly.
The rush to blame the oil seems just a little too hasty for me. I would suggest that you investigate further & find the real reason for the failure, otherwise you might just suffer the same fate again.

Why on earth anyone needs 80 psi of pressure to lubricate an A series is not within my understanding. There are many racers that have been flogging the living daylights out of their race A series for years with less oil pressure than that & never suffered a catastrophic bottom end failure.

Good fortune with your search for the cause.
