Hmmm when u say bag of #### lol, does it seam to run like engine should( just really badly) or all over the shot like its just a bunch of explosions that by fluke turn engine over. my only ideas from hear are to remove valve cover and turn engine over by hand and make sure valve train is doin wat it should.

if it was compression i would still think it shoud kick and possible run thats my thoughs anyway.

you didn't happen to fill your tank with diesel before hand did you this is a bit of a different dilema that I am used to

That hammer is sounding like a damn good idea!! I'm serious!!!
I was thinking, could it be the dizzy? That is one thing that hasn't been replaced but the points have been!
Timing cover was taken off and, again, all seems ok! had also thought that it was something internal, what sort of things are there inside the motor that could cause this? as everything attached to, or is a part of the motor has either been replaced or checked at least 10 times! was mentioned before about the compression, it hasn't been compression tested. could that be the problem?

If the compression is down it definately wouldn't help the situation
dizzy is drivven from the cam shaft, fuel pump is driven from the camshaft unless yours is electric, could always check valve clearances incase an exhaust rocker has adjusted it self down over time by vibration, holding an exhaust valve open slightly causing it to backfire (happened on my old 200B burnout wreck)
One way to check distributor function is to check for spark at each plug and then check ignition timing while turning it over by the starter motor so you can see if the spark is happening at the right time to make the engine start.
The way it sounds if the motor just died like that it sounds either spark or mechanical related, no dropped valves? any weird noises?

No noises whatsoever. Just died around the corner from my house so I managed to push it home and thats where the fun started!
think i'm going to have to change motors, everything that has been suggested has been tried, (except for the compression) but thank you all for your help!! if there are any other ideas please let me know.
Cheers, Renee.
