Hello my names Domenic, I own a 1976 Datsun 1200ute.

I purchased my first car/ Datsun in year 10, at first it was just going to be a quick respray, but as time went on more and more parts just seamed to fall off. As I started sanding it back panels seemed to just fall of and bog and rust appeared everywhere. After much contemplation the rebuild started. Day by day parts just fell out, first it was the interior, and then all the panels followed by the engine then all the running gear just fell out. The rebuild was about to start.
With just a shell, not a nut or a bolt on it, a humble Datsun ready for its rebirth. What to do were to start the grinders came out. The body was sanded ready for restoration. A full rebuild was about to take place. With the help of my father each new panned was carefully welded and smoothed off. The body welded up all rust taken out.
It was time to choose the colour. (The hardest part) green, yellow, blue orange which one? After a long time of consulting other dato lovers bright orange was chosen (same colour as my hair). Whilst stripping the ute we also decided to respray the under body of the ute. I wanted to be different I wanted my ute to stand out so instead of a black under body I chose to spray it body colour.
