The Datsun 1000 sedans & coupes used the H145 in 4.11 to 1 ratio. Utes & Vans used a lower ratio of 4.375 to 1, but were still H145's & these all used the alloy carrier.
The alloy 4.11 to 1 diffs sometimes found in Aussie 1200 wagons are B10 diffs while the genuine 'factory option' 4.11 to 1 diffs that were available for 1200 wagons in Japan used an iron carrier according to my parts. book. As far as I can tell, the alloy 4.11 to 1 diffs in 1200 wagons were fitted here in Australia. [but I have no proof yet] The construction of the alloy & iron diffs differed in that the alloy one used a fixed length sleeve + shims to set the pinion bearing preload. This was costly to produce, so they went for the cheaper "compressible sleeve" in the iron diffs. Both are good, but the earlier design is easier to service & the fixed sleeve can't compress further under high loads. The later design is quicker & cheaper to make, but involves a complete tear down just to replace the front seal & a new compressible sleeve is required also in order to do the job. Cheater_5 Remember, your car isn't a wagon in the traditional sense, but a Van, & as a work vehicle, it stands more chance of having the lower ratio as standard.

No, it wasn't me. Once I switch the H150 LSD into my coupe, the original will be available, but don't hold your breath just yet.
It should be a good one too as the car has only 41,018 original miles on it. Is this for Claire's coupe?
