Can I use my stock 4 speed tanny on my new A14 motor? I do have the 5 speed 60 series tranny, but I was thinking of selling it, since I could really use the money.
I am planning on driving the car around the city, and I won't race it or anything likr that.
I will get rid of the A12 motor and will be selling some parts off it like starter, air cleaner housing, valve cover, alternator, etc.
Any help is appreciated.

You realize that you would get better fuel economy with the 5spd.

Although the $4-600 you will get from it on ebay would be good too!

Would the 5-spd actually give better mileage if the car is mostly driven around town?

I have been thinking about doing this myself, but my car is driven almost exclusively on surface streets. I' not sure I would gain a lot of benefit other than lower rpm freeway driving.

Cool!, it will fit.
But, how much fuel econony am I going to miss if I stick around with the 4 spd?

What would be a comfortable speed if I decide to drive on the freeway using this tranny?

And yes, I could really use thoses 4-600 bucks!!

its not hard to put together... do it with the 4 speed, and see how it goes, if you can put up with it, then sell the 5 speed....

4-600 bucks will get you plenty of fuel

I guess I can wait before I sell it... I will do just that.. 600 bucks will get me around a year's worth of fuel alright, with the ridiculous prices!

One more question, is the clutch the same on both trannys?

Thanks a bunch!
