i want to put my 1200 ute in the local hill climb and sprint series. i have been told that standard pistons will not be up to the job and that i will have to get some made up. does anyone know how strong the bottom end of an a14 is and if it wil be up to the job if not can i buy perfomance pistons and engine parts

The bottom end is quite strong in standard form but for racing, you can check out dattoman_1000 race A14, it uses mazda UC series 4 pistons and heaps of other trick parts to make an awesome screamer!

You CAN buy all sorts of things for your A14 that will increase it's performance. You will also find that the stock pistons will stand up to a lot more abuse than you have been lead to believe. Some of our members seem to be able to keep their turbo engines alive with stock pistons [then again, some don't ]

The A series engines generally are renown for their strength & reliability, so you can rest a little easier now as you have one of the better engines in this class.
