What I did see is that the 1400 bakkies that are still sold here in ZA, in addition to being the handbrake light, also use it as a brakefluid indicator. There is a little float level switch built into the reservoir lid. Since I retrofitted my car with a bakkie booster and master, I'll be wiring it accordingly. No harm in knowing when you are about to run out of brake fluid...
