I was wondering what type of suspension set up you use,,,,I have see you compete and find that you're fairly competitive but what are you up against in opposition??? Whats your view on this..??

"fairly competitive"? gee thanks mate...

my suspension is a bit of a junkyard special.

FRONT: stanza struts, cut Gemini springs, redrilled lower control arm mounts, slotted strut towers, 120Y sway bar, Monroe shocks, urethane sway bar bushes

REAR: reversed short leaf, urethane bushes, 2nd hand Pedders shocks (were on my 1000 coupe when I bought it), 18mm sway bar.

it's nothing tricky, but it works together pretty well. I spent alot of time trying different springs, swaybar combinations, and leaf spring configurations (with wrecker/junkyard parts) before setling on what I have now. You should see some of the looks you get from competitors when they get a look under the car while you're changing wheels or whatever...

Every other front runner in my class uses adjustable platforms, race springs (I don't even know what rate mine are), adjustable and/or custom valved name brand shocks (Koni, Bilstein etc), adjustable camber. And they all have welded in cages as well, which most people will tell you gives some handling advantage by making the chassis more rigid.

The wider wheels and track promise alot of improvement. I only have the front flares on at the moment - ran out of time to do the rears before this event. I couldn't believe the difference it made, it was so tailly (loose/oversteer/whatever) I had to ge back to my old front wheels! Turn-in response was fantastic though. Can't wait to get the flares on the back so I can use the new 13*7 Superlites, but I will need stiffer springs all round I reckon, because the car is a little too soft even now - with the extra grip and corner speed it will need significantly stiffer springs and/or shocks to keep body roll under control. So I am looking at actually getting some proper shocks and stuff at the moment.

my brakes are a bit of a joke as well - 9.5" discs, and drums on the rear... I'll get to them one day too... then a rollcage would be nice...and then I could do Targa NZ or something. well, if I had the money!
