is there any probs dropping a standard A12... out of a ute...into a 4 door sedan...

No problem swapping a 71-73 ute engine into a sedan or coupe. Apparently the 1971-1973 A12 differs from the 1974-up A12. The engine mounts presumably are different. If so, you just need to make the usual A14 mount modifications. See the Tech Section article How to fit Datsun A14 & A15 Engines.

thanks 4 that...still learning...i'm having to put in an engine in my recently purchased 1200 sedan, that i got out of a ute 4 100 dollars...goes fine too...b'cos me old ones blowin steam out the exhaust...and leakin water every possible place...and now she went and ceased up on me...

Hi just reading. I don't know if this any probs or if you are looking for one, But if you need one I have drop mine out and put in a ca18. The a12 is running.'' Where'' Don't know but it go's.

yer do actually smurf...tried 2 drop tha new engine in today...but she was out of a later model ute...so we had some problems...but i am in desperate need of one...if you could reply with some more details etc. would be much appreciated

the engine mountings on a ute are 1.5" further back, ute crossmember ears go straight up ,old coupes sedans wagons X member ears lean 4d
