hi guys just wondering what would be better for a 2 door 1200 sedan im doing up. i have a choice of 2 g/boxes but im not sure which one would be geared better for street. the motor i intend to use is a stock L18 sss motor. the dif i have is a stock 1200 butterfly type centre . if i use a stanza 5 speed i can use a 1200 auto tailshaft and all will fit up but if i use a bluebird 5 speed i have to get t/shaft made, which i dont mind doing.

what do u guys recon?

if you can get the stanza one it would be the better choice, being easier to fit and having a tailshaft that doesnt need to be modded

Mate, if I were you I would check if the dogleg box fits in the tunnel first. My bluebird box JUST fits in my manual tunnel and the dogleg box seems fatter in the body than the bluebird. Good idea to sit them side by side first.
Cheers

should fit, i fitted a 280zx 5spd into standard manual tunell with slight hammer mods and ground off mounts, these are similar to bluebird one i think

Hey matt, you've seen my dogleg in the car, I just removed the mounts from the tunnel and had a bit of a hit around where the tunnel meets the firewall. Had to move the shifter hole back about 2inches.

Yeah a 1200 or 120y auto - jap diff tailshaft will bolt up to your diff, my cars got a 1200 auto bw tailshaft and diff at the moment. When I use my Ke55 bw diff I have to change the flange on the nose of the centre to the dato one.

Cheers
Sean

If you dont like the reverse first (I love it) a skyline stumpy box should fit the same. Also so should a 1600 4 spd.
