Hey did any other North Island Kiwis get to the Classic racing in the weekend? You guys missed some good racing and excellent weather. There were 2 1200 SSS sedans and Pikey's 1200 coupe
as well as 2 1600SSS and a few 240Zs. Highlight of the day was Julian Hardy's super deceptive 1200SSS giving a MK 1 Ford Escort RS2000 a real hurry up in one of Sundays last races. Despite
giving away 700ccs to the Ford the Datto was right on the Escorts arse to finish 2nd. It was great to see the standard looking car on 2 wheels full noise through the infield esses. The
weekend left me sunburnt and fired up to get my coupe back out for the summer season. I have taken some pics and will hopefully post them soon.

Chris, you've suffered with an unnatural fascination with synthetic lubricants and flame detailed rocker covers for too long. Get in that coupe and find out when those datty's will be
racing next - and go there - it'll heal you from your present illness.
When you get a chance check out Pikey's car and see if you can spot the original cheater bits introduced when it raced in Shell Sport. Also you'll spin out when you see his motor - it's
not just the full gloss black rocker cover - but it's the location of the oil fill cap in relation to his fire wall. Tricky and very competitive....

I just had a discussion with my parts man about synthetic oils. He said that they were not recommended for motors that don't get fully warmed up for at least 30 minutes each time out.
Synthetics will sludge up the crankcase more that parrafin or petroleum based oils if not used properly. He says most synthetic oil containers have the fully warm up clause on their
labels. He says that they are perfect oils for racing where motors run hotter than most street motors.
