How did everyone that has painted thier cars know that they had chosen the right colour? i need to start looking at colours, but i am too indecisive.

i know i should look at lighter colours, but i would love to go black with dark pink racing stripes.

i know kinda gay but that's what i would really like.

any tips or ideas?

thanks

Kirstie

PS: i am NOT letting Luke decide the colour!!

Have you seen this link?

I'm down to somewhere in the silver to dark grey area or blue... Still don't know for sure. Been a decision between those 2 for about 8 months now

You could go down to a car yard and have a look at the colours. When you spot something you like, write down the paint code straight away.

flat colours generally look the best as the datsuns are small (obviously) so getting stripes put on can be a bit over powering, unless you colourcode all bumpers and chrome trim. Personally i like the chrome, so i want a colour that will contrast well with it. Usually the fancy greens/oranges etc. that come out on the new cars aren't much chop either.

my 2c anyway

i don't want any colours that i see on so many datsuns...i want mine to be unique - i know black isn't unique or anything but i want it to stand out..and trims n bumpers are chrome

All my cars Ive ever resprayed I've always kept the original colour, Ive sprayed a pastel green 1600, orange 1200 coupe, antarctic white 1200 sedan. My safari yellow sedan will get the same treatment when the time comes.

Unless its a race car I wouldnt attract too much attention from the boys in blue with wild colours etc. you cant go past antarctic white.

The race cars getting Sikkens Grau as a base colour inside and out, and Royal Blue roof bonnet and boot.

yeah i must admit a nice clean white does look really good on a datto!!

Personally i am a fan of bright colours... the brighter the better:)
My old 1600 was a straight yellow tinter.. and u could see me comin before u heard it!! and thats sayin somethin lol

Im planning on doin the ute in either baby blue, yellow or lime green.

Its really just a personal thing, have a look in magazines and the net for colours u like or head down to ur local paint shop and ask ta have a look at the fan decks ( sample cards )
You will be suprised how many solid colours there are ( meaning no pearls or metalics )

wasnt a fan of the factory kalahari tan originally but with a bit more tint it came out great (wouldnt have been the frst color of choice but love it now).

Im a fan of blue but mazda make a nice purple on the rx8 and also metalic wine red on the mazda 3. honda jazz have some ok colors but i liked the toyota camry baby blue metalic for my old coupe.

its all personal. you should find some great bike colors.

Personally I like that yellow/orange colour on the Mitsubishi 380s. Unless it's the next big colour to take off (tiger gold, blueprint, hothouse green) then my next project will cop that hue.
