i'm doin that but i got a drop tank( got it made and moved it to the back of the ute).
just used the petrol flap to cover the hole bit rough i no. got one of motor bike / air craft fillers going to mount it on the side and run tubing down to the tank. look's like it will work

just be VERY careful you don't end up warping the whole panel. If you can get a grinder in behind, try welding up the gap first, then grind the actual filler part off later. (remove the fuel tank/lines etc first obviously
) That way the original part should hold the panel in the right shape. If you just cut a big square out from the outside of the panel, it makes it very easy to warp when you weld it up.

Yea, thats cool i have removed the cap and welded a plate in place. i havnt cut the panel, then ill tidy up the welds/plate etc.
what im not 100% about, is on the inside. I have noticed the hose can be twisted clockwise to face the petrol cap inside the tray but on a weird angle. I was thinking of using a stainless steel mandrel bent pipe as an extention so it all sits nice and at the wright height. should polish up nice and extend all the hoses like the overflow etc to suit. Im just thinking there could be a better way and someone must of done this mod before. Any pic's or info on expierences would be great
