29-6-2007:

Went to Wetherill Park Panels today after i phoned to put some panels aside, good thing i phoned on wednesday as some guy had bought 5 bonnets and 5 left front guards!

so they had 1 bonnet left

went and picked up:

1 bonnet
1 left front guard
1 radiator support
1 front apron

Thanks phunk for the number and address.

when we went to pick them up the guy said it waslucky we phoned as the other guy came back wanting the bonnet and rad. support but couldn't get them as they were on hold for me!!

and then on the way there we went to Graham's Jap Wreckers and put a deposit on a CA20 auto box.

BTW if anyone wants 1 or 2 120Y badges or a front and rear bumper for a 120Y wagon go to this place as he has a wagon and it still has the chrome front n rear bumers and at least 1 120Y badge still on the car...also has some jelly bean mags on it but didn't get a good look at the condition of them...so if u want a few parts GO NOW!!!! he is in Smithfield - Sammut St.

so quite an expensive day but it needed to be spent as the car is going to the Soda Blaster in a few weeks.

i am tossing up whether to shave the b-pillars, or if to get the vent surrounds...any ideas? once i removed the bog off the pillars, i found that one side has had the vents cut out n welded over, and the other side is still there...what to do....????

and on another note.....i think i have finally decided on a colour.

I'll help you out Wayne, we're paying no more then $1500 for the whole car, including all the loose hanging panels and the rear chassis. The upside is it doesn't warp panels and can remove bog.

Here's the best part though, it'll be ready by 2-3pm tomorrow, the whole thing takes less then a day. This gives me time to go shopping tomorrow arvo for etch primer and a spray booth (namely a Supercheap Auto carport, the one with zip up sides) so I can spray it on Friday.

I'm sure Kirstie will have pics up tomorrow of the ute in all its bare metal glory. All going to plan the welding, trial fit and spray job should be finished this year, leaving a full year to get the mechanicals, electricals and interior sorted for Summernats 22!

ok day started well got the by 8am/8:30am, n then got the call it was finished at 12pm

got pics of the ute before we left home at 6:15/6:30am til we got back home this arvo

had a HUGE drama on way home....chain holding front end to the trailer snapped and the bac end flew off the trailer on King Georges Rdat a set of lights..luckily i was behind it but not close enough to get hit. and the ute sustained next to no damage i took a pic of the only damage.

the guys that do the soda blasting, are absolutey top blokes!! one is even a Spray painter by trade, so got his details too!!
