smoother ride, better handling etc etc, i seen a set on ebay for sale about 2 weeks ago went for $80 (kingsprings) i have cut a few in my early days, down to the ground. got defected once for too low. but these days i go for s nice ride height with as much comfort as possible.

King springs will get the thing sitting pretty low, but I don't think they're stiff enough. My ute is fitted with 120Y struts and 2in lower Kings and the front bottoms out hard, you can bounce it like a mexican lowrider with one hand.

Sorry to highjack, but anyone know of a real stiff spring, who makes one better than King?

Back to topic, chopping springs is pretty shonky isn't it? All the boys at high school used to do it coz they had no money. I've heard it's illegal in NSW.

the heat you create when cutting the spring damages the tempering of the metal. which in turn weakens it. buy the kings or whitline or similar. worth it in the end, if it means you avoid a yellow or damage to your car, or voiding insurance.

Yeah, know how you feel. For a stop gap measure it would be fine, just don't spend the cash on something else before you can replace the chopped ones.

Might look into the whitelines myself.

i have no love for king springs there basically stock springs painted yellow you cant notice any extra stiffness. Gemmy front springs cut down are heaps better than the kings, i read pigdog used 200b rear springs? Also i have used ea falcon fronts cut down but there stupidly stiff and a liitle to large od. Just be aware they can fall out of position if there not wired in etc. You will get good at lowering a jack slowly with one hand while lining up springs with other hand otherwise!

Regardless of who makes it or what they cost, any spring is dodgey, that doesnt need to be compressed to fit the strut top onto the shock. Doesnt matter if you wire it in place or not.

lovells make some nice stiff springs but still not low enough.

you can get custome from whiteline etc. go a progressive rate thatis soft that gets harder as compressed.

Industrial Springs in Adelaide made the ones for my ute. They'll do whatever you want for a very reasonable $.
