As those who have read my wife's project thread would know, today we had a bit of an incident with the ute. The bitch fell off the back of it as we took of from the lights. Thankfully only one small ding in the drivers sill, the rear wheels landed quite smoothly.

Anyone else had issues trailering cars? Particularly love to here some real shockers or humourous ones?

I've got a scary flat towing story.

I was steering a Sunny wagon, that a "mate" was towing in his Range Rover. Engine and box out, but tailshaft still connected and held up by a piece of rope.

Bout midnight and raining

As he enters a wide sweeping corner at around 50kph....he decided to put the boot in. The car is sliding like a water skier and the tailshaft is slapping on the ground.

He figures he should try to get it to keep sliding and continues to speed up. I slam on the brakes and the car keeps going.

He then thought it would be fun to slam his brakes on and I end up on the end of his towbar.....real fun! Last time I get a flat tow me thinks.

And what would possess you to tow a car with the drive shaft still in it held up by a piece of rope?

Righto - we were on our way home from a drag meet. I was in my ute following our tow car with a trailer and an RX4 coupe we'd been thrashing.

We get to the intersection of King William and North Terrace (one of the busiest intersections right smack in the middle of the city) when the RX4 decides it doesn't want to be on the trailer anymore and rolls off.

I slam the brakes on the ute and my mate and I rush out in the middle of the insersection to grab the RX4 before it rolls into the ute and then push it to the other side where the tow cars pulled over...

Ever since then I tie cars on trailers down REAL GOOD!!!
